API FAQs
Required fields. Successful API calls require specific fields to be incorporated. While some information may seem obvious to include (address details, dimensions, etc), others details may not. For example, we require parcel.description, reference_ID, and parcel.reference. The reference_ID and parcel.reference value needs to be meaningful as they assist our team in troubleshooting potential API inquiries.
Address verification. Maergo’s API does not currently offer address correction. We will generate a label for any address submitted to us, regardless of its validity. This approach is intentional, as address verification should be done as far upstream as possible, ideally in the shopping cart. Allowing customers to confirm their address or correct it during the checkout process saves time, saves money, prevents unpleasant delivery issues, all without decreasing checkout conversions.
Phone number. Collecting accurate phone numbers from your customers can significantly help final mile carriers deliver parcels successfully. For instance, if a gate code is required to access a community, having the recipient's phone number on hand can help resolve such situations when delivery instructions are not provided.
